Rejoice! Rejoice! It turns out that chocolate is good for you! -However: It has to be Dark Chocolate.

Researchers at the University of Cologne, Germany and Italy's National Institute for Food and Nutrition have done studies on the health effects of this popular treat.

Each participant in the studies ate 3.5 ounces worth of chocolate per day for the study period. Those who consumed dark chocolate experienced a significant drop in blood pressure.

Within 1 hour of consumption, the participants who ate dark chocolate also had an elevated level of antioxidants in the blood.

Milk Chocolate helped much much less and white chocolate did not help at all.

Moderation is key. Both studies had participants eat less of other foods to compensate for the calories consumed in chocolate. -If you want to save on fat, hot cocoa made correctly might be a subsitute for dark chocolate.

A few other studies have been done on dark chocolate with respect to some diseases, also.
