Researchers at the University of Aberdeen have made a breakthrough in osteoporosis research.

They have found that chemicals called endogenous cannabinoids, related chemically to cannabis, can exacerbate osteoporosis. This type of cannabinoids is produced naturally in our bodies.

Blocking them and their attachment to receptors in our bodies and bone tissue can help fight osteoporosis.

The hope is that drugs previously designed to fight cannabinoids for other purposes can be used in the future to help slow osteoporosis. This potential new class of drugs could possibly have fewer side effects and undesirable properties than some pharmaceuticals currently used to treat the bone disease.

So if you're going on that vacation to Amsterdam, do yourself a favor and at least put some Viactiv soft-chews in the brownies.
